Joy! Joy! For Christ is Born!

December 25, 2013 2 Comments
What child is this, who, laid to rest
On Mary’s lap is sleeping?

Whom angels greet with anthems sweet
While shepherds watch are keeping?

This, this is Christ the King
Whom shepherds guard and angels sing,
Haste, haste, to bring him laud,
The babe the son of Mary!

So bring him incense, gold, and myrrh;
Come peasant, king, to own him
The King of Kings salvation brings,
Let loving hearts enthrone him!

Raise, raise the song on high,
The virgin sings her lullaby.
Joy! Joy! For Christ is born!
The babe, the son of Mary!

“The love that descended to Bethlehem is not the easy sympathy of an avuncular God, but a burning fire whose light chases away every shadow, floods every corner, and turns midnight to noon.”
– Watch for the Light, 2001

We have every reason to celebrate. Merry Christmas friends!

Cath

Five children in four years, including two sets of twins, brought new meaning to Mary Oliver's earnest question. Our little people aren't so little anymore, but life is still wild, still precious. And this is my meager attempt to hold on, make it last. I love Doug, running, hiking in the mountains, oatmeal chocolate chip cookies, the edge of an ocean, and connecting with you here. So happy to have you along.
