Note: This piece was later published in the Ensign magazine for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. December 2015 issue.
As much as I try in all my writing, to maintain a voice that can be understood and appreciated by persons of any faith, this piece at Segullah today is admittedly Mormon.
Segullah is an LDS website (with a predominantly female audience) so Mormon lingo is to be expected. But hopefully, the story I tell there about our sacrament ordinance (similar to communion in other churches) will still resonate with you, no matter where you hang your ecclesiastical hat.
For more on the sacrament and what it means for Mormons, you can check out this link.
Or, feel free to send me any questions. I’m always happy to clarify, answer as best I can, define jargon, or chat faith.
Currently working on our Favorite Children’s Books post. It will be up next week. xo
p.s. I just noticed Michelle’s wonderful post about her son Gabe’s ordination to the priesthood. She offers the perfect visual for words like Deacon and High Priest, as well as an excellent summation of why men in the LDS church (even young men) are given the priesthood.
