Pure Intent

May 5, 2010 12 Comments

Today, a few minutes after Eliza came home from preschool, I was downstairs at the computer when I heard the clinking of dishes in the kitchen, the rattle of toys in the family room. I figured she was up to something, but didn’t investigate because I had an inkling it was something good.

Sure enough – it was. And it’s not even Mother’s Day!
This clip is a little slow-moving while she’s rummaging through the coat closest, but hang in there, the end is worth it!
A gift she knew I would love. Given with pure intent. If only we could move through each day with that thought, “I know this will make them happy!”
It’s grand…
being a Mom.

Ten Books to Give for Mother’s Day
May 6, 2010

Cath

Five children in four years, including two sets of twins, brought new meaning to Mary Oliver's earnest question. Our little people aren't so little anymore, but life is still wild, still precious. And this is my meager attempt to hold on, make it last. I love Doug, running, hiking in the mountains, oatmeal chocolate chip cookies, the edge of an ocean, and connecting with you here. So happy to have you along.

That is so sweet. What a wonderful mother, teacher, and example you are. You deserve days like that, that make you feel like your hard work is paying off. 🙂 She is adorable.

Kelsi – moments like this help me see the development of her soul – keeps a Mom going! Looks like you're having a blast exploring MN! So fun for you guys!

Cristie – I didn't know how she would respond to my question. I melted with her answer. Thanks again for the salad! All gone! And so delicous!

Natalie – you're so sweet. Thanks for reading. When's the big day???

That almost brought tears to my eyes. What a little sweetheart!

Not sure if Doug mentioned but I finally did it, I left the working world to be a stay at home mom for a while. I can't tell you how happy the last week or so has been!

Kathleen – I didn't get that memo from Doug. WOW!!! That is huge! I'm so thrilled for you. It's a real privilege to be able to stay home and nurture our children. I'm grateful all the time for this blessing. I'm loving that even the last week for you has been so happy. Congratulations! This is a unique season of life for you.

I've always wanted to find a group of Mothers that look at mothering as a career of its own. Power of Moms is like that – it's a great gathering place for strong-minded, invested women. You might like hanging out there on occasion. So good to hear from you! 🙂

And Natalie – July is coming up fast. So exciting for you. We, of course, have a special affection for the DC temple. So glad that's where you will be! Love you!

AWWWWWW! What a wonderful little girl. I will never forget the beautiful summer evening when you and Doug came on a walk to our house with her four weeks old sleeping in her stroller with her perfect little lips all plump and just so cute. It's one of those memories engraved in my mind.
