When You Think You’re Not Enough

Cath

Five children in four years, including two sets of twins, brought new meaning to Mary Oliver's earnest question. Our little people aren't so little anymore, but life is still wild, still precious. And this is my meager attempt to hold on, make it last. I love Doug, running, hiking in the mountains, oatmeal chocolate chip cookies, the edge of an ocean, and connecting with you here. So happy to have you along.

I so much love to look at the pictures! I especially love the ones that have the Rockies in the back — you are so blessed to live in a such a wonderful setting! It must be wonderful to grow up there!

    Thanks for sharing!

    So long,

I really like that idea of counting! I'm currently counting down the hours before I'm at work, on my forklift! (24 to go…)

I hope as I age I can do it like a tulip, first gracefully bending over just so. Look at how lovely it still curves?

Still counting? Umm. I just need to start, I guess.

Knit1,Knit2 – You can still count, without numbers, yes? Love that you are seeing.

Kerri – Me too. Invites the happy in, transfigures the hard.

Corinna – it is a gorgeous setting. I never tire of the mountains at my back. xo

Tracy – what's your fav? mine is root beer. xo

Kel – Can I just say, you have the most moxie of anyone I know!! A forklift!? You are amazing. Prayers your way my sweet friend. And so glad you have a job! I love you.

Liz – You are so observant. Yes, I want to age that way too. Aren't those stems incredible? They're even more lengthened tonight, stretching low to the table, yet still firm and lilting. Would that I could be that flexible now. Start counting. I would love to see your list. xo

I love that he pulled up a chair to wait. That sounds so familiar.

And lilacs and popsicles? Two favorites I love. And the swingset sounds lovely.

Thanks for reminding me to take notice of the small things (this was a great post)…tonight when I asked my kids what they'd have to do to become a good parent, Gwen said, "Well…we have to grow up." Your post again reinforced my efforts to slow down and enjoy the journey :-)…before they grow up.

Cath, I've been meaning to come on over and write something for the past few days! Life has been a freight train of late.

Just please know that I appreciate so very much your perspective. Thank you for this sweet reminder about counting my gifts. Love to you.

Elizabeth – we are going to share popsicles this summer. I'm determined to have you over. xo

Cheree – How fun to hear from you, my beautiful mission sister! And what sweet sentiments about your children. The growing up is happening far too fast. Loved peeking at your blog. You are living a happy, wonderful life.

Anne Marie – I can SO relate to the "freight train" – a perfect visual for me. My week has been similar, an emotional ride like I haven't been on in a while. I hope you've been doing alright. Maybe this weekend you've been able to catch your breath, pause, see gifts. You're good at that. Love you dearly.

Stumbled across your blog today via Memories on Clover Lane…Love this post! Must have not been by accident. Love the idea of 1000 gifts too. I am thinking of making a wall at home and letting the kids help with the 1000 gifts. What a wonderful little family you have. Thanks for the inspiration!
